      The human mind is indeed a mysterious phenomenon, for one is ever in mental conflict and inquisitive to know what is ahead of the self.

The Moon represents the mind and the mind is the connecting link between body and soul, the ascendant is related to the crown of the head. 

The second house to the face and senses, the 12 house to the back of the head. The planets controlling reason and emotion are Mercury and Moon respectively and involving the 3^rd and 4^th house as such.

The battle of emotions and intellect are therefore mental ailments of any nature with the Moon, Mercury and the rulership and its affliction of the first, second, third and fourth house in causing mental afflictions.

The central nervous system is controlled both by the Moon and Mercury whereas other planets have influence over peripheral nervous system of the body.

Afflictions to the houses mentioned above go a long way to manifest mental issues and character as it not only impairs the mental set-up but causes the issues of being ones own worst enemy.

      Generally, everybody at times becomes an easy prey to mental imbalances, as one behaves differently at different hours of the day with Moon and Mercury in transit and the rotating earth.  

Serious mental issues, stated as moodiness, melancholia, hysteria, phobia, schizophrenia, dementia, dullness, obsession, fixity, insanity, perversion, paranoia, epilepsy, morbidity, or suicidal tendencies are the tragic circumstance.  

The 12^th house is related to the unconscious mind and is in the axis with the 6^th house of karmic actions and the sub-conscious mind.

When the Moon is in conjunction with Ketu or Saturn is in itself a profound problem.

Mars and Mercury create a very aggressive mentality and are prone to injuries, especially in the 6^th, 8th or the ascendant.

The ascendant lord is in conjunct with malefic planets or Jupiter and Venus here, creating endless procrastinations and self-delusions.

       If the Moon is associated with malefic planets or is associated with Rahu and placed in the 12th, the native tends to be very erratic in behavior.

If Jupiter is in the first house aspected by Mars from the 7th, there is every chance of the native becomes insane.

Saturn in the first, the Sun in the 12th, the Moon and Mars in association, the person will lose all his senses through alcohol or drugs. The 2nd house lord with Saturn, being associated with the Sun brings lunacy through bilious disorder.

      If Mercury aspects the ascendant where the Moon and Saturn are posited, the mind of the native will be much disturbed and melancholic.

       Severity of the disease depends upon the gravity of malefic influences and a powerless first house lord and is enough to render the mental brain power to be weak.

During dasha times that involve malefic planets, one needs to be extra careful and use those malefic energies wisely.

The overall chart combinations of beneficial planets need to be taken under consideration as they counter-balance circumstantial issues.

For every unfoldment there is a certain time, so there comes a time for the unfoldment of the soul.

In the light of truth all things become clear, their true nature manifest in the view.
