To abominate all influence
and propaganda is the understanding that the influence of the author’s thought,
that is feeding all compulsions.
Anyone who is persuaded,
consciously or unconsciously, to think along a particular line, however
apparently beneficial, can never really fulfill himself at all.
We are being influenced by something or other, most of the time and one may be unconscious of it, but it is always present in many subtle forms.
Its influence or compulsions are found
in churches, parliament or ashrams where the ideal, the spiritual or political
Utopia becomes the future as a symbol of achieving or becoming something.
One can’t put up a bridge
over troubled water all at once. Time is needed for everything, for the seed to
bear fruit, and for the mind to mature. Time is used as a means to achieve and
exists to compare, to become is the way of time. Time as a means of achievement
has tremendous influence; it exerts the pressure of centuries of tradition,
with the process of attraction and compulsion.
The big question here is,
if one is merely concerned with freedom from outward authority or does one also
want to be free from every form of inward compulsion, from the pressures of the
mind itself.
The influence by the
culture or society in which one has been brought up is most obvious that the
mind is influenced, educated, shaped, not only by the present culture, but by
centuries of culture.
Tradition and racial
inheritance with the experiences of the individual based upon the collective
past and its future.
Does one feel the nature of
consciousness for oneself, or is one influenced by another’s description of it
and one can indulge in explanations and theorize about it, that leads to the
further conditioning of the mind.
When there is the
accumulation of knowledge in order to gain, to achieve, or to arrive, one
learns with a motive and it is a contradictory to the processes learning. True
freedom and learning comes without a cause. To feel out the nature of
consciousness, which is the direct experiencing of it without any motive, is
already a freeing of the mind from outer influence.
If it develops as a motive
of any kind, there can be no freedom.
The minds of conformity bring
about confusion in another form.
The spirit of humanity is
the womb from which the action of God is formed. That wisdom is the cream of
intelligence.
Humility in love is the
humility of the master, while humility in surrender is the humility of the
slave.
A great person will stretch
your mind to the utilities to capture the ultimate love, whereas those who want
to control you will narrow it to the size of his own outlook.
