The Moon completes its
circle in 28 days and is used in Vedic Astrology as one of the calendars in
daily observations.
28 days multiplied by 13
Moon returns gives a 364 day and a year, without the need for a leap year.
This calendar is used for
the dates of ceremonies, holy days and is used in public to evaluate economics
and historic events.
The other important
calendar that is observed in the same time is the 27 days calendar related to
the personal influences, that is given at birth within that day of the Moons
position.
The feminine qualities,
that relates to the 27 day menstruation circle has its signification to the
Moon and the state of mind.
The days of this Moon
position are called Nakshatra’s, or lunar Mansion that are fix-points in the
natural zodiac.
In Vedic tradition the name
of the birth Nakshatra is given in the name to the person to establish a
perpetually connection to that birth quality. The nature and organic progress
of the persona is easily observed within this calendar.
The Nakshatra’s have
significant influences to the Vedic alphabet and its consonants or vowels with
its musical mantra reference to tune the senses to the divine qualities, to
overcome desires.
The senses creating desire
and desire demands to be fulfilled.
The lack of fulfillment and
its desire becomes greater and all consuming and becomes a very poor reflection
in the serenities of the pure light from the Sun.
The Moon and Sun relation
is our natural time keeper and become very significant in relation to day and
night, or the gross to the subtle.
The masculine and feminine
qualities, that relates to our sexuality and functions of the body and its
emotional equilibrium of growth.
The elements of fire, ether, water, air and earth are the doorkeeper and gateway to bliss.
They are
related to the eyes, the ears, the speech, the mind and breath. The Nakshatra’s
are opening the doors in the subtle mind that need to be open.
When one learns to operate
the wheels within, one becomes more in tune with the astral body and experience
the bliss of liberation.
